Abstract
Keywords: The role of educators, character development There are numerous issues related to the character and morals of students in this modern era, and to address these issues, character development is necessary. Character education serves as the foundation for students, particularly for Islamic students (santri), to develop character traits that align with Islamic teachings. In character development, educators play a crucial role as guides and supervisors, ensuring that the process runs smoothly and effectively. Miftahul Ulum Islamic Boarding School is a Salafiyah boarding school where character development is carried out by educators. This study aims to describe the process of character development by educators at Miftahul Ulum Islamic Boarding School. The character development process in the boarding school context differs from character development in formal educational institutions. The focus of this research includes: (1) the role of educators in character development, (2) the concepts used in character development, and (3) the implications of the educators' role in character development. This research adopts a type qualitative approach. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques involve data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data is ensured through techniques such as credibility, dependability, and confirmability. The research participants include the caretakers of the boarding school, the management team, and the students. The findings of this study 1). Show that educators at Miftahul Ulum Islamic Boarding School have five roles in character development. They serve as mentors in guiding students' learning, as leaders or imams, as motivators who ignite students' enthusiasm, as directors of students' discipline, and as surrogate parents to the students. Additionally, 2). There are four concepts in character development at Miftahul Ulum Islamic Boarding School: qudwah, tadribul qudwah, isyraf, and ta'dzir. 3). The implications of character development include the development of disciplined and religious character among the students
