Abstract

ABSTRACK The professional demands of a teacher are essential to be possessed by an educator. The primary requirements include educating, guiding, teaching, training, directing, assessing, and evaluating students. As we know, a teacher is a figure who is looked up to and emulated. Therefore, a teacher who can serve as a role model, capable of setting an example and consistently providing guidance, mastering their subject matter effectively, can be categorized as an ideal teacher. Abu Hamid Muhammad al-Ghazali, often known as al-Ghazali, was a Sufi scholar who extensively discussed teaching matters, positioning the role of a teacher as a noble profession. The focus of this research is to understand the concept of an ideal teacher from al-Ghazali's perspective in his book "Ihya' Ulumuddin" and to establish its relevance with the "Kurikulum Merdeka" (Independent Curriculum). This study employs a historical-factual approach with a library research methodology. Both primary and secondary sources are utilized for this research. The findings indicate that the concept of an ideal teacher according to al-Ghazali's perspective in "Ihya' Ulumuddin" includes: 1.) Compassion for Students; 2.) Teaching with Sincerity; 3.) Delivering Comprehensive Material; 4.) Wisdom; 5.) Respecting Other Knowledge; 6.) Understanding Different Intelligences; 7.) Flexibility and Adaptability; and 8.) Serving as an Exemplar. The relevance can be observed through various concepts outlined in the "Kurikulum Merdeka." The ideal teacher concepts mentioned in "Ihya' Ulumuddin" align with the goals of the "Kurikulum Merdeka," such as encouraging academic achievement, fostering creativity in teaching, active self-development, promoting holistic student growth, acting as a role model, and serving as an agent of transformation in the education system. Keywords: The Concept of the Ideal Teacher, Al-Ghazali ABSTRAK Tuntutan profesional sebagai guru sangat diwajibkan dimiliki oleh seorang guru, tuntutan utamanya yaitu mendidik, membimbing, mengajar, melatih, mengarahkan, menilai, serta mengevaluasi peserta didik. Seperti yang kita ketahui, guru merupakan sosok yang di gugu dan ditiru. Maka dari itu, guru yang dapat dijadikan figure, yang mampu menjadi panutan dan selalu memberi teladan, dapat menguasai ilmunya dengan baik itu dapat di kategori kan dengan guru ideal. Abu Hamid Muhammad al-Ghazali atau yang sering kita ketahui dengan panggilan al-Ghazali merupakan sufiyah yang banyak mengulas masalah keguruan, serta menempatkan posisi guru sebagai profesi yang sangat mulia. Fokus penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui konsep guru ideal perspektif al-Ghazali dalam kitab Ihya’ Ulumuddin dan merelevansikan antara konsep guru ideal perspektif al-Ghazali dalam kitab Ihya’ Ulumuddin dengan Kurikulum Merdeka. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan historis-faktual (factual approach) dengan jenis penelitian studi pustaka (library research). Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu menggunakan bahan primer dan sekunder. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, konsep guru ideal perspektif al-Ghazali dalam kitab Ihya’ Ulumuddin meliputi; 1.) Menyayangi Peserta Didik; 2.) mengajar dengan Ikhlas; 3.) menyampaikan Materi secara Komprehensif; 4.) Bijaksana; 5.) Menghormati Ilmu lain; 6.) Memahami Perbedaan Kecerdasan; 7.) Fleksibilitas dan Adaptabilitas; serta 7.) Sebagai Uswatun Hasanah. Sedangkan relevansi nya dapat kita lihat dari beberapa konsep yang dijelaskan dalam Kurikulum Merdeka. Konsep guru ideal yang tercantum dalam kitab Ihya’ Ulumuddin memiliki pengertian dan tujuan yang selaras dengan Kurikulum Merdeka tentang beberapa konsep guru ideal diantaranya; mendorong peningkatan prestasi akademik peserta didik, kreatif dalam mengajar, aktif dalam mengembangkan diri, mendorong tumbuh kembang peserta didik secara holistik, menjadi teladan, serta menjadi agen transformasi bagi sistem pendidikan.
