Abstract
Low learning motivation is something that will have a negative impact on a person's learning quality. The poor quality of a person's learning will affect his learning process and the goals he wants to. Using the Reward and Punishment learning method, students can maximize the learning material before and after the learning process. This study aims to 1) describe how the use of reward and punishment in the Pesantren Hidayatul Qur’an Singosari and 2) describe the results of the reward-and-punishment use in optimizing the motivation of the Pesantren Hidayatul Qur’an Singosari. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection methods include interview, observation and documentation methods. Data analysis methods involve data condensation, data display, and conclusion/verification. The results of this study are 1) The use of reward and punishment in the Pondok Pesantren Hidayatul Qur’an Singosari has been performed well, only on the reward system is still not maximized. Punishment is preferred because it can have a psychological influence on the behavior of the pupil so that he can quickly change his attitude. And 2) the result of the use of reward and punishment in the Pondok Pesatren Hidayatul Qur’an Singosari is optimally motivated learning students and the development of innovation of its teachers. The effectiveness of the use of reward and punishment makes the students learn well and obey the rules of learning.
